Africa's second-busiest airport and EgyptAir's Star Alliance home, Cairo is a sprawling three-terminal campus that has grown in fits and starts since the 1960s. T2, reopened in 2016, is the crown jewel; T1 remains charmingly period. 2024 traffic rebounded to 30.5 million as tourism to the Red Sea and the forthcoming Grand Egyptian Museum accelerated. A mooted privatisation and a new T4 masterplan are the headline opportunities.
