MHI-TES is the transportation-equipment arm of MHI and manufactures passenger boarding bridges alongside monorails, people movers and maritime gangways. It developed the world's first PBBs with a completely flat, barrier-free floor throughout the tunnel corridor — the 'STEPLESS' variant — and supplied 16 of these to Tokyo-Haneda's international terminal. The Miyazaki Airport renovation added two 'Long PBBs' (extended-length units for remote regional stands) plus three additional STEPLESS bridges. MHI-TC, a sister entity, has extended the automated-docking technology developed for airports into a self-propelled seaport passenger boarding bridge delivered to Yokohama in January 2026.
