EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service)

EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) is a satellite navigation augmentation system that enhances GPS service accuracy and reliability in Europe. It was established as part of the European Union's initiative to improve satellite navigation for safety-critical applications, particularly in aviation. EGNOS provides three dedicated services: Open Service, Safety-of-Life Service, and EGNOS Data Access Service. The European Satellite Services Provider (ESSP) operates EGNOS under a contract with the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA).
