This sub-category covers the consumable de-icing and anti-icing fluids applied to aircraft on the ground: heated Type I fluids that strip accumulated ice and snow, and thickened Type II, III and IV anti-icing fluids that protect clean surfaces for a defined holdover time before take-off. Procurement is governed by SAE AMS 1424/1428 specifications, ISO standards, fluid-compatibility testing and aerodynamic acceptance, alongside increasingly strict glycol-discharge and biodegradability rules.
