A few engineer-grade clarifiers a seating specialist needs before they can quote terminal or gate-hold seating. These pin down the seat type, where it has to fit, how it's powered, and which contract-furniture fire standard governs it — not seat count or price, which we handle separately.

A high-cycle beam-seat house and a VIP-lounge design house barely overlap — the zone decides which suppliers are even in the conversation, the durability tier (gate hold-rooms run 10-15yr at 24/7 duty), and whether the brief is throughput or comfort. It's the single biggest fork in the catalogue: most products here are 2-6-seat beam runs, but lounge daybeds, PRM/family seating and work-pods are entirely different product lines.

This is the fit question that decides everything downstream. Extending an existing brand collapses lead time and locks finish/parts compatibility — if that incumbent is on our verified list they often win by default. Terminal seating is a building-furnishing product governed by furniture flammability and contract-strength standards — BS 5852/BS EN 1021 (fire), EN 16139 or BS EN 12727 (contract-furniture strength/durability). It is NOT the aircraft-cabin standard: specifying FAR/CS 25.853 for a gate hold-room is a common and disqualifying error. Naming the standard the tender requires filters the shortlist to compliant ranges immediately.

Frames split between anodised/die-cast aluminium and steel-framed PU — each carries a different cost-per-cycle, weight and corrosion profile for the GCC climate. Custom Pantone matching typically triggers a ~300-seat MOQ and added lead time, while standard colours ship in 15-30 days; fatigue rating (150,000+ load cycles is the high-cycle benchmark) is what justifies the 8-10yr warranty. Open field because these come as a bundle of buyer-specific constraints.
