IDEX 2027
IDEX is the Middle East's largest defence exhibition — biennial at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi and co-located with the naval-focused NAVDEX. The 2027 edition runs 25–29 January, with ADNEC reporting 70% of exhibitors rebooked from the 2025 show.
What is IDEX?
The International Defence Exhibition & Conference is the GCC's anchor defence event, organised by ADNEC Group in strategic partnership with the Tawazun Council and the UAE Ministry of Defence. It spans land, air, sea and security domains, with NAVDEX covering naval systems on an adjacent footprint.
Defence aviation runs deep through the halls: combat and transport platforms, avionics and radar, unmanned systems of every class, counter-UAS, and the training/simulation layer behind them.
Dates, venue and format
IDEX 2027 runs Monday 25 to Friday 29 January 2027 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Expect national pavilions, OEM chalets, live demonstrations and a heavy delegation programme — the UAE leadership traditionally tours on day one and procurement announcements follow through the week.
- Co-located NAVDEX covers naval and maritime-security systems
- Tawazun Council partnership ties exhibiting to UAE industrialisation and offset programmes
- Announcement-heavy: UAE contract awards are made publicly during the show
Who attends
UAE MoD and armed forces, Tawazun and EDGE Group ecosystems, visiting GCC and international delegations, global primes and the specialist supply chain — plus the region's defence-industrial joint ventures.
For aviation-adjacent suppliers, the counter-UAS, radar and comms segments are the busiest crossover zones with civil airport security.

Why GCC procurement teams track this show
IDEX is where UAE and wider-GCC defence-aviation procurement goes public: contract awards are announced on the floor, and the exhibitor list maps every vendor seriously pursuing Gulf defence budgets — including the counter-UAS and radar suppliers that civil airports also buy from.
Scan the exhibitor list for category overlaps with your airport or operator security programmes, then compare those vendors on Aviation Souk's counter-UAS and defence categories.
- Counter-UAS and perimeter-security vendors at IDEX frequently bid civil airport programmes
- Alternates with Riyadh's World Defense Show (even years) — plan the pair for full GCC defence coverage
- Watch Tawazun/EDGE partnership announcements for who gains local-content advantage
Venue & logistics
- ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, Khalifa City side of the island — 20–30 minutes from Abu Dhabi International (AUH)
- Delegation-heavy security: pre-register and carry ID; expect road closures on opening day
Travel tips
- Book Abu Dhabi hotels months ahead — IDEX week sells the city out; Dubai (90 min) is the overflow
- Late January is peak season: mild, dry and busy
