The FX852C (FAA designation L-852C(L)) is ATG's high-intensity inset taxiway centreline light for straight-section applications at airports operating at CAT II/III minima. While the FX852A addresses low-intensity straight-section requirements, the FX852C is specified where higher luminous intensity is required — on critical centreline segments adjacent to instrument runway holding points, on long inter-terminal transit routes where greater viewing distance is operationally necessary, or where local regulatory requirements specify high-intensity centreline lighting throughout.

The fixture uses a straight-and-narrow beam optic that concentrates intensity along the line of taxi travel, maximising pilot visibility on straight taxiway segments. Colour options include green, yellow, and cyan, supporting all standard ICAO taxiway guidance schemes. It sits 4.0 mm above grade within the FAA Style 3 / ICAO Style 4 flush-fitting requirement, and shares the 8-inch or 12-inch IEC seating pot with the rest of the FX852 family.

The FX852C is fully dimmable to the tungsten halogen response curve, operates across the 2.8–6.6 A series circuit range, and is compatible with all CCR types. Optional fail-open monitoring signals LED array degradation to the control room. The no-negative-slope lens face prevents the sand and dust accumulation that can reduce effective intensity at desert airports between maintenance cycles.

At large GCC hub airports with complex taxiway networks, the FX852C provides the high-intensity centreline coverage required on critical routing segments, complementing lower-intensity fittings on less operationally demanding sections.

Use cases.

  • High-intensity straight taxiway centreline guidance at CAT II/III airports
  • Critical centreline segments near instrument runway holding points requiring elevated intensity
  • Long inter-terminal transit taxiways where extended forward visibility is needed
  • Retrofit of high-intensity halogen centreline fittings on existing 6.6 A circuits
  • Mixed-intensity taxiway centreline systems alongside FX852A low-intensity fittings
