The FX852K (FAA designation L-852K(L)) is the curved-section counterpart to ATG's straight-line taxiway centreline products. Where the FX852A uses a narrow forward beam suited to straight alignment, the FX852K employs a wide-beam light source that maintains adequate intensity across the arc of a high-speed exit, curved taxiway, or 90-degree turn — surfaces where a straight-beam fitting would present insufficient lighting across the full range of pilot view angles.

Operationally, the FX852K is used to complete the centreline lighting chain at every bend in the taxiway system, including high-speed runway exit curves (RET lanes), apron turn paths, and complex intersections at hub airports. Without appropriately specified wide-beam fittings at these locations, luminous intensity drops off on the outer arc of a turn and the centreline can appear to disappear for an approaching crew.

The fixture shares the mechanical footprint of all ATG FX852-series insets: 4.0 mm protrusion, 8-inch or 12-inch IEC pot, FAA L823 Style 1 connector, and compatibility with the full range of constant current regulators. This commonality means an airport carrying a single FX852 spares kit covers straight, curved, and stopbar positions. The LED array exceeds 60,000 hours service life, is fully dimmable to the halogen curve, and operates between -55 °C and +55 °C.

Colour options — green, yellow, or cyan — allow integration with both standard CAT II/III taxiway guidance schemes and specialist lead-in or apron routing configurations. CAT II/III suitability is confirmed against FAA AC 150/5345-46E, ICAO Annex 14, and NATO STANAG 3316.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Curved taxiway centreline guidance including high-speed runway exit (RET) lanes
  • 90-degree taxiway turns and complex multi-path intersections at hub airports
  • Mixed installations alongside FX852A straight-section fittings to complete end-to-end centreline coverage
  • CAT II/III taxi guidance systems at airports with frequent low-visibility operations
  • Apron routing and lead-in line applications requiring cyan colour output
