FX862C Elevated Runway Edge Light

The FX862C (and 60-metre variant FX862CW) is the elevated companion to ATG's inset runway edge light family. Where inset edge lights flush into the pavement surface, elevated fittings mount on frangible couplings above grade to provide the additional photometric reach and visibility angles required on certain runway geometries, or to supplement inset lighting on runways where sub-surface civil works are not feasible.

The fitting's adjustable height of 250–350 mm (including frangible coupling) accommodates variation in pavement and shoulder levels and is set by the installer during commissioning. The frangible coupling shears at a controlled force under aircraft contact, protecting aircraft tyres and undercarriage from damage while keeping the fixture body intact for rapid replacement. Both bidirectional and unidirectional optical arrangements are available, as are clear (white), yellow, red, and omnidirectional output options to cover all lighting zones along the runway length.

The FX862C and FX862CW share the same 2.8–6.6 A series-circuit electrical interface, L823 Style 1 connector, and full CCR compatibility as ATG's inset runway fixtures, allowing mixed inset/elevated installations on a single airfield circuit without special adaptors. Full dimmability to the tungsten halogen curve is standard, with optional fail-open LED monitoring.

For GCC airports expanding or resurfacing runways to accommodate wider-body traffic, the FX862CW variant addresses the 60-metre standard. The -55 °C to +55 °C operating range and IP67 protection cover the desert thermal and dust environment.
