The POLARIS is ATG Airports' standalone battery-powered or solar-powered LED lighting kit, designed to establish ICAO-compliant runway and helipad lighting without fixed electrical infrastructure. The system targets a wide operational envelope: emergency runway reinstatement at commercial airports following a power or AGL failure, temporary lighting for planned works closures, and permanent semi-portable installations at remote strips, grass airfields, and forward operating locations.

Each POLARIS unit is weatherproof to IP67 and houses high-power LEDs with a rated life exceeding 60,000 hours, matched with dedicated optics for photometric performance above comparable battery-powered incandescent products. The battery charges fully in approximately 8 hours and, depending on mode, supports runtimes from around 14 hours at full steady intensity to up to 24 days on low-power flashing mode — the wide range covering both emergency overnight operations and long-duration remote deployments.

The system covers every standard airfield lighting function: runway edge (white, bidirectional or omnidirectional), taxiway edge (blue), threshold (green), runway end (red), combined threshold/end (green/red), and unserviceability indicator (red). Units operate in continuous or flashing mode. Visibility ranges of 3,000 m under VFR and 1,500 m under Special VFR cover the majority of planned temporary operations.

Deployment requires no civil works, no specialist trades, and no series-circuit CCR — any airfield operations team can configure a compliant runway in the field. This makes POLARIS directly relevant to GCC national aviation authorities managing remote desert airstrips, helicopter operations, and contingency planning at primary airports.
