The ZA181 is one of ATG Airports' most widely deployed runway centreline and touchdown zone inset fittings. Available in both IEC-standard and PSA (Permanent Shallow Assembly) seating variants, it provides procurement flexibility for airports where the sub-surface installation format differs across runway sections or where brownfield replacement work encounters a mix of legacy base types.

The IEC variant installs into the standard international seating pot used across ATG's modern product range; the PSA variant targets airports — predominantly in North America and certain older UK/European installations — where the shallower PSA baseplate type was used historically. This dual availability means the ZA181 can serve as a single-source solution for large runway centreline replacement programmes spanning mixed baseplate populations, avoiding the cost and delay of base conversion works.

In circuit terms, the ZA181 operates on 6.6 A series airfield lighting circuits through either one 100 W/150 W or two 45 W/65 W series isolating transformers, giving designers flexibility in transformer sizing. It is rated for Category I, II, and III all-weather operations, covering the full ICAO precision approach capability spectrum.

Approvals span FAA L-850A and B (AC 150/5345-46D), ICAO Annex 14 including the beam pattern figures 2.5 through 2.8, NATO STANAG 3316, CAA CAP 168, BS 3224 Part 5, IEC 61827, and EASA U10/U11 — the dual EASA clauses covering both runway centreline and TDZ optical requirements. The breadth of approval makes the ZA181 a reliable choice for airports managed or audited by more than one regulatory authority.
