N2300 Trace Detector
Portable gas chromatography–surface ionisation narcotics trace detector capable of identifying fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, THC, methamphetamine, and ketamine from a single particulate swab in 55 seconds.
The N2300 is a portable narcotics trace detection instrument produced by Autoclear's Scintrex Trace division, designed for deployment wherever controlled-substance detection requires laboratory-grade specificity outside a fixed laboratory setting. Its detection engine pairs gas chromatography separation with surface ionisation detection (GC-SID) — a combination that achieves nanogram-level sensitivity while maintaining the high selectivity needed to distinguish between structurally similar compounds such as fentanyl and codeine, and to minimise interference from common environmental contaminants. The instrument detects five main drug families in a single test: methamphetamines, cocaine, THC/cannabis, heroin/opiates, and fentanyl, with the ability to expand the library to additional target compounds. Results are displayed within 55 seconds of sample introduction via a reusable particulate sampling screen, supported by LED indicator lights and an audible alarm for clear, immediate operator feedback. Operating from a 12 V DC rechargeable battery rated for three hours of field use, and also accepting universal 90–264 VAC mains input, the N2300 transitions seamlessly between ramp-side, vehicle-based, and fixed screening post deployments without modification. In aviation security contexts, the N2300 is applicable to customs-controlled international arrival halls, baggage claim narcotics interdiction programmes, and air cargo acceptance narcotics screening, particularly relevant on routes with high interdiction risk. Its portable form and battery operation make it suited to mobile customs units and patrol-based customs inspection outside fixed desk locations. For GCC customs authorities operating under ICAO Annex 17-aligned narcotics detection requirements, the N2300's broad compound coverage and expandable library address evolving smuggling profiles including synthetic opioids.
