A704-VL Solar Taxiway and Helipad Light
Self-contained solar helipad and taxiway light certified to ICAO Annex 14 and FAA standards, available in three solar engine sizes for ground, rooftop, offshore, and remote heliports.
The A704-VL is a fully integrated solar LED light designed to mark helipad FATO and TLOF perimeters, and taxiway edges, without grid power or generator support. The unit combines solar panels, a pure-lead VRLA AGM battery (rated for operation from −65 °C to +80 °C), an Energy Management System (EMS), and LED output into a weatherproof self-contained fixture. Three solar engine sizes allow the procurement team to match battery reserve to latitude and season.
The A704-VL is intended for ground-level heliports, rooftop hospital helipads, offshore platforms, remote medevac landing zones, and temporary or emergency helicopter landing areas — any location where trenching or cabling is impractical. Thousands of units operate at hospitals, air ambulance bases, military installations, and remote aerodromes worldwide. Both FATO perimeter lights and TLOF lights are covered by a single product family.
Buyers choose the A704-VL over grid-powered perimeter lights when the installation location lacks power infrastructure, the authority requires a rapid-deploy solution with minimal airside disruption, or the operating climate is extreme. The maximum-power-point tracking with temperature compensation keeps the solar charge efficient even when panel temperature peaks in high-irradiance Gulf environments. The IES LM-80-rated LEDs maintain consistent photometrics throughout the product life without re-lamping. The replaceable battery extends service beyond five years.
NVG-compatible IR LEDs are available, making the fixture relevant to military and aeromedical night operations. The unit complies with ICAO Annex 14 Volume 1 (taxiway) and Volume 2 (heliport FATO/TLOF), FAA L-861T, and FAA L-860HR.
