The AV-426 Solar Aviation Light (generic variant) is a next-generation self-contained solar LED fixture for permanent aviation lighting applications. It integrates active MPPT solar charging, aerospace-grade battery, and LED optics into a sealed enclosure available in Compact (C0) and Standard (C1) chassis heights, allowing the procurement team to select the form factor best suited to installed-height clearance requirements and required battery capacity at the target latitude. The AV-426 is qualified across the full set of primary airfield lighting roles: runway edge, threshold, runway end, approach (including simple approach lighting systems), and helipad perimeter. All are addressed by FAA and ICAO compliance built into the core unit — the procurement engineer does not need separate products for edge versus threshold functions, which simplifies inventory and spares management. Optional RF control via Avlite's AvMesh encrypted mesh network allows tower-based intensity stepping (3-step), light-group programming, and switching between visible and IR modes without additional infrastructure. The internal antenna removes the exposure risk of an external RF device on the airside. Where RF is not required, the unit operates autonomously from dusk to dawn. For airports in high-solar-irradiance environments — consistent across the GCC — the enhanced optics and MPPT temperature compensation maintain performance during peak summer temperatures when conventional VRLA batteries and solar panels can lose efficiency. The Compact chassis suits constrained runway shoulder widths, while the Standard chassis provides longer battery reserve for locations with lower average insolation or longer night periods.
