The CrisBag Self Bag Drop is BEUMER Group's automated bag acceptance unit for passenger self-service check-in. Passengers who have already checked in via a mobile app, web portal, or a CUSS kiosk approach the unit, scan their boarding pass, and present their bag — the unit weighs, dimensions-checks, labels (or validates a pre-printed ATB tag), and inductes the bag into the downstream baggage handling system, all without agent intervention.

The unit is designed as the passenger-facing entrance to the wider CrisBag tote-based ICS, so the bag is deposited directly into a tote at the drop point and remains tracked by RFID from that moment forward. This matters to airports targeting IATA Resolution 753 compliance and to HBS designers who need confirmed custody tracking from point of acceptance. Where an airline's check-in host system is integrated, the unit can reject over-weight bags and generate excess-baggage prompts, reducing disputes at gate or ramp.

The primary operational value is staffing reallocation: agents previously occupied with routine weight-and-tag tasks can move to exception handling — over-size bags, document checks, premium passenger assistance. Airlines and ground handlers report this as the primary commercial driver. The unit is designed for retrofit into existing check-in concourses as well as greenfield BHS design, with a compact footprint suited to apron-level hall depths typical in Gulf terminal refurbishments. It supports CUTE/CUSS environments and is compatible with multiple host DCS platforms, giving multi-airline terminals a common acceptance interface.
