CrisBelt is BEUMER Group's conventional belt conveyor product line for airport baggage handling systems. It serves as the workhorses of the BHS: straight flat-run conveyors, merge points, divert units, inclined sections bridging level changes, and accumulation buffers. While the more advanced CrisBag ICS and tilt-tray sorter systems handle primary sortation and long-distance transport, CrisBelt sections are the connective tissue of the overall system — carrying bags from check-in induction to screening machines, from screening outputs to sortation infeeds, and from sortation destinations to make-up chutes.

The modular design philosophy means each CrisBelt section is built from standard structural frames and drive components that can be site-assembled and interconnected without bespoke fabrication. This significantly reduces installation time on large terminal projects and simplifies long-term spare-parts management, since a single inventory of drives, rollers, and belt sections covers all conveyor runs in a terminal. Sections are specified in fire-retardant belt grades to comply with airport fire safety standards, which is a mandatory requirement in most regulatory environments.

CrisBelt sits at the entry-level cost point within BEUMER's airport conveyor portfolio, making it the standard choice when budget, simplicity, and proven maintainability outweigh the throughput or tracking advantages of ICS technology. It integrates directly with BEUMER's baggage management software via junction units and divert switches that receive routing commands for each bag's destination. In GCC airports, where baggage hall ambient temperatures can reach 45°C and equipment is required to run continuously across long summer operating periods, CrisBelt's robust construction and accessible maintenance design support operational availability targets.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Intra-terminal baggage transport between check-in, screening, sortation, and make-up zones
  • Level-change inclined conveyors linking check-in hall floor to sub-level BHS decks
  • Accumulation and buffer conveyor runs ahead of HBS screening machines
  • Cost-optimised BHS designs at regional airports or secondary terminals where throughput does not justify ICS
  • Expansion sections and retrofits integrating new BHS equipment into existing terminal conveyor networks
