C-Coil Series Cable Extender / Reel
Spring-retract cable reel for under-bridge 400 Hz GPU installations, designed to deploy and recover aircraft power cable at passenger boarding gates.
The C-Coil Series is a cable management and delivery reel purpose-engineered for ground power installations where the GPU is mounted out of reach — principally beneath passenger boarding bridges, in ceiling-mount hangar rigs, and in compact gate service rooms. At those positions the output cable must extend cleanly to the aircraft nose without lying loose across the taxiway or passenger walkway, and must retract safely when the aircraft pushes back. The C-Coil addresses that handling requirement. CDR markets the C-Coil as the companion product to the F-400 90 kVA frequency converter specifically for PBB-mounted configurations: the converter provides the power conversion; the reel handles the last twenty to one hundred metres of cable deployment to the aircraft. Supporting up to two independent output cables, the unit can serve a wide-body aircraft with dual power plugs or supply a primary and secondary circuit simultaneously. The operating temperature envelope of −55 °C to +55 °C matches CDR's GPU range and ensures the reel mechanism — springs, drum bearings, and cable insulation — remains fully functional at the high ambient temperatures common on summer aprons in the Gulf states. Because it is designed to fit all types of passenger boarding bridges, the hardware adapts to gate equipment from the major PBB manufacturers without bespoke structural modifications. The reel reduces trip hazards, cable wear from repeated dragging on concrete apron surfaces, and the manual labour of coiling and stowing cable between turns.

Use cases.
- ›Under-bridge 400 Hz GPU cable management at passenger boarding gates
- ›Ceiling-mount hangar power reels where floor-level cables create FOD and trip hazards
- ›Wide-body gate positions requiring dual-cable deployment to aircraft
- ›Compact gate-room GPU installations where floor space precludes a mobile reel cart
- ›Any fixed-mount GPU application requiring automatic cable retraction on pushback
