The DKA Aerospace Eco-Lite+ is the current generation of DKA's pioneering ultra-lightweight meal cart line, first introduced commercially in 2009 and now in active service across tens of thousands of units worldwide. Where the Standard Lightweight prioritises structural robustness, the Eco-Lite+ is optimised for weight reduction: C-frame construction replaces heavier solid-panel framing, and raised-edge side panels add rigidity without mass penalty. Pressed runners extend service life while maintaining smooth tray movement under load. At 16.2–19.1 kg full-size and 10.4–12 kg half-size, the Eco-Lite+ is measurably lighter than conventional-class carts — a saving that compounds across a wide-body galley loaded with six to ten trolleys per sector. On long-haul routes where every kilogram of galley equipment contributes to fuel burn across thousands of annual cycles, the weight advantage translates to direct operational cost reduction. Door options include push-to-close and manual, venting is available on full-size units, and a flip-top configuration suits half-size usage in premium class or business-class aisles where access geometry differs. The cart is ATLAS and KSSU compatible, carries EASA POA, CAAS POA, and FAA LoDA approvals, and is listed on Boeing and Airbus approved supplier registers — prerequisites for BFE and SFE fitment on 787, A380, and single-aisle aircraft. For GCC carriers operating ultra-long-haul services (Emirates A380, Qatar 787/A350, Etihad A380), the weight advantage of the Eco-Lite+ is directly relevant to payload and fuel economics on routes where galley weight is a considered variable.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Long-haul wide-body operations where galley equipment weight is a fuel-burn variable
  • High-density domestic trunk routes requiring lightweight carts to ease crew handling in confined galley spaces
  • Premium and business-class aisles where a half-size flip-top configuration improves access ergonomics
  • Fleet-level weight-reduction programmes aiming to offset fuel costs through equipment specification changes
  • BFE and SFE procurement for Boeing 787, Airbus A380, and single-aisle fleets
