Swiveler Wheel Diverter
Bidirectional wheel-array diverter delivering medium-to-high throughput sortation up to 6,000 items per hour within a modest installation footprint.
The Swiveler Wheel Diverter is a conveyor-integrated sortation unit built around a matrix of motorised swiveling wheels that can rotate to steer items left, right, or straight through — all while keeping them in controlled alignment on the belt surface. Unlike paddle or push diverters that act on items from the side, the Swiveler operates on the item's underside, lifting and steering it as it travels across the unit. This means the divert action is smooth, alignment-preserving, and suitable for items that vary significantly in shape: carton boxes, flat polybag mailers, and irregular soft-sided parcels all pass through the same unit without adjustment.
In airport logistics applications — primarily airside mail, courier, and air-cargo warehouse operations rather than passenger BHS — the Swiveler's bidirectional capability is operationally significant. The same unit can handle inbound sortation in one shift direction and outbound consolidation in the reverse, without mechanical reconfiguration. Each unit carries its own embedded programmable logic controller (PLC), which simplifies integration into existing conveyor line WCS architectures: the unit participates in sortation decisions locally rather than depending entirely on a centralised controller.
The Swiveler handles packages weighing up to 50 kg across a conveyor line width of up to 1,260 mm, with variable and adjustable conveyor speed. At up to 6,000 items per hour it sits comfortably in the medium-to-high throughput band — appropriate for regional express cargo terminals, mail-centre outbound lines, and airport logistics zones where volume justifies automation but does not warrant the capital cost of a full cross-belt loop. For GCC express logistics hubs and freighter-focused terminals at airports such as Dubai World Central or Doha's cargo precinct, the Swiveler's combination of bidirectionality, per-unit PLC independence, and high package-rate makes it a practical mid-tier sortation building block.
