The Vanguard FTS 370i is Flash Technology's premium integrated obstruction light for wind turbines, certified to FAA L-864 and ICAO Annex 14 Medium Intensity Type B — the same regulatory tier as the FTS 350i-2 but in a larger, nacelle-top form factor that houses the entire power conversion, control, and GPS receiver within a single aerodynamic housing. The unit draws 120–240 VAC directly from the turbine's own supply and delivers 2,000 ±25% ECD at the antenna top without any additional hardware inside the nacelle.

The defining feature of the 370i is its patented Fresnel lens optics, which confine the light beam to the required elevation angles while sharply reducing ground scatter and lateral spill. This directly addresses light-pollution planning objections that increasingly arise during wind farm permitting in Europe and North America — and are relevant to any GCC project near inhabited areas. The unit supports configurable flash rates (20 or 30 fpm) and GPS-synchronised simultaneous flashing across a wind farm, which is a regulatory and visual-impact requirement for most multi-turbine arrays.

Infrared LEDs meeting FAA Engineering Brief 98 (EB-98) are available as standard or optional, enabling compatibility with Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems from Detect and Terma. Surge immunity is 25kA. The IP66-rated housing weighs 26.3 lbs and is designed to survive hub-height wind and icing loads, with an aerodynamic profile optimised for minimum structural load on the turbine top-plate. A 5-year parts warranty applies.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Primary aircraft warning light on wind turbines where low ground scatter is a permitting condition
  • Multi-turbine wind farms requiring GPS-synchronised simultaneous flashing across the array
  • Sites near military airspace requiring FAA EB-98 infrared and NVG-compatible illumination
  • Wind farm builds in jurisdictions requiring CSA, CE, or DGAC certification alongside FAA
  • Replacement or upgrade of ageing xenon or older LED systems on nacelle tops
  • ADLS-integrated farms using Detect or Terma radar for demand-based activation
