ATF Runway / Approach Light
Sequential flash lamp unit forming the individual light point in ICAO-compliant runway approach and REIL systems.
The ATF (Approach Flash) runway/approach light is the individual field unit in Flashelek's Sequential Flash Lamp System (SFLS) installations, working in concert with the JX2300 or JX2360 control boxes and the JX5300/JX5600 tower monitors. It represents the visible output at each light point along the approach centreline, generating the high-intensity flash required to produce the sequenced 'ball of fire' effect that guides pilots through low-visibility conditions onto precision instrument runways. Flahelek's SFLS architecture supports all major configuration variants defined in ICAO Annex 14 and the FAA Advisory Circulars: Category I (30-flash 0.5-second sequence at 14 ms inter-flash), Category II/III (21-flash sequence at the same timing), REIL (Runway End Identification Light, paired synchronized flash), and ODAL (omni-directional approach lamp for non-precision approaches). The heliport approach variant uses a 4-flash 2-second sequence at 267 ms intervals. Selection between configurations is made at the JX5600 control panel, which also manages individual lamp-hour counters — a maintenance aid that directly reduces the risk of SFLS outages causing approach minima changes and NOTAMs. The system is approved by the French STNA and meets FAA and ICAO Annex 14 requirements, and has been deployed on hundreds of runways in France and internationally over Flashelek's 35-year operating history. For a GCC or regional hub procurement team, the ATF unit offers a known-standard approach light head backed by a European manufacturer with long-term spare-parts support and multilingual technical documentation.
