EDS Integration & Screening Line
A fully integrated checked baggage inspection conveyor system — from check-in induction through inline EDS screening to makeup sortation — delivered as a single turnkey installation.
The EDS Integration and Screening Line is not a single piece of equipment but a complete engineered sub-system: the conveyor architecture that surrounds and connects an Explosive Detection System (EDS) machine into the wider baggage handling infrastructure. G&S designs, manufactures, and installs the full induction, feed, queuing, and outfeed conveyor network that makes an inline CBIS (Checked Baggage Inspection System) function as a regulatory-compliant, operationally reliable screening line. A typical inline screening line receives bags from check-in conveyors, passes them through one or more queue conveyor sections that regulate spacing and present each bag square to the EDS aperture, then routes cleared bags directly to the makeup transport network. Bags that generate an alarm at Level 1 are diverted — via SPD or HSD units — to a Level 2 manual resolution station; secondary alarms route to a physical Level 3 search area. Each divert decision is driven by the EDS machine's output signal, integrated into the system's PLC-based controls package. G&S provides custom-designed electrical controls for each installation, coordinating conveyor speeds, queue indexing, divert timing, and interlock logic with the EDS manufacturer's interface protocols. Systems range from simple single-lane configurations at regional airports to multi-lane, multi-level CBIS architectures at major commercial hubs. For airports in the GCC and MENA region procuring new or replacement CBIS infrastructure, the regulatory baseline is ECAC Document 30 (for civilian aviation) and the TSA Consolidated Airfield Requirements for US-routed traffic. G&S's turnkey scope — a single contractual and technical interface from design through commissioning — reduces integration risk at the critical security screening layer.
