The general transport conveyor is the backbone of the internal baggage handling network — the interconnecting belt system that moves bags between functional zones: from check-in screening areas to makeup carousels, between piers, or between levels within a multi-storey terminal. G&S builds these units from a standard set of modular components — drive sections, slider bed modules, tail sections, and angle knuckle modules — that are combined on-site to match the exact routing required by the terminal's structural layout. The system handles both horizontal transfer and incline or decline transitions up to 23 degrees, making it capable of navigating the level changes between a check-in hall, a sub-floor screening gallery, and a ground-level makeup area without intermediate manual transfer or bag-lift systems. Angle knuckle modules handle the transition between horizontal and inclined runs cleanly. All structural components are finished in machine grey powder coat, providing corrosion resistance appropriate for the back-of-house airport environment. The modular design philosophy means individual belt sections can be swapped for maintenance or reconfigured if the terminal's operational routing changes — a practical consideration for airports undergoing phased capacity expansion. In large GCC hub terminals operating complex wave-bank schedules, the general transport network is often the longest and most critical conveyor sub-system; its capacity, alignment tolerances, and drive redundancy directly govern how quickly bags can cycle from landside induction through screening to airside makeup. G&S's turnkey integration approach — design, manufacture, install, and maintain — keeps responsibility for this critical path with a single supplier.
