Passenger Boarding Stairs (GSE Support India-fabricated)
Fabricated mobile passenger boarding stairs for narrowbody and regional aircraft, built by GSE Support India for open-stand operations at airports without aerobridge infrastructure.
GSE Support India fabricates mobile passenger boarding stairs at its New Delhi facility, supplying the class of equipment that serves aircraft at remote stands, low-cost terminal aprons, and airports where jet bridges are absent or insufficient. These are manually-positioned or towed staircase units providing crew and passenger access to main-deck forward and aft doors on narrowbody and regional aircraft, and to the upper-deck service doors on widebody types where applicable. The stairs are constructed on a welded steel chassis with an adjustable-height platform sized to match the door-sill range of the intended aircraft family — typically 2,200 mm to 3,600 mm for narrowbody operations, covering the A320 and B737 door-sill envelope. Steps are fabricated from anti-slip aluminium or chequer-plate steel grating, with folding or fixed handrails on both sides compliant with safe-access standards. The platform deck is sized to accommodate the full width of the aircraft door, allowing simultaneous passenger flow in both directions during rapid-turn operations. For open-stand and remote-stand operators, fabricated stairs represent the lowest-cost and simplest-to-maintain access solution — no hydraulics, no propulsion system, no electrical supply required. GSE Support India's domestic fabrication model compresses the price gap versus imported units significantly. The equipment is well-suited to hot and dusty operating conditions typical of Indian domestic terminals and similarly demanding GCC regional airports, where corrosion-resistant paint finishes and simple mechanical construction are priorities over complex automated systems.
