The Hytera MT680 Plus is a full-featured TETRA mobile terminal designed for installation in ground vehicles, operations vehicles, and fixed desktop positions where a handheld's 3 W output is insufficient. Its 10 W RF power and 4 W internal speaker are sized for the extended site distances of cargo aprons, maintenance bases, and perimeter roads — environments where a vehicle-mounted radio must project clearly over engine noise without a headset.

Deployment flexibility is a core design principle: the unit ships in three configurations — standard dash-mount, remote-mount control head with the transceiver relocated to a protected location (3 m, 6 m, or 15 m cable options), and a desktop terminal for fixed control positions. The remote-mount configuration is common in fuel tankers, aircraft tugs, and airfield maintenance vehicles where the operator position and the best RF location are physically separated.

A 2.8-inch transflective TFT display (320 × 240 px, 262,144 colours) remains readable in direct sunlight — a practical requirement on the GCC ramp. Multi-constellation positioning (GPS, GLONASS, BDS) provides redundant location data for vehicle-tracking overlays in dispatch systems. The radio supports 6,000 TMO talk groups and 4,000 DMO talk groups, with full authentication, AIE and E2EE matching the security posture of the wider TETRA infrastructure. MIL-STD-810G certification covers the vibration and temperature profiles of vehicle operation. The MT680 Plus is documented as the vehicle-side complement to the PT580H Plus in large airport TETRA deployments.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Vehicle-mounted primary communications for ground-support equipment (aircraft tugs, fuel tankers, catering trucks, buses) on the airport ramp
  • Fixed desktop control-room terminal for shift supervisors coordinating multi-zone airside operations
  • Remote-mount installation in vehicles where the operator cab and the optimal RF antenna position are separated
  • Airfield perimeter and maintenance patrols requiring extended RF coverage beyond handheld range
  • Airport TETRA network gateway node (DMO Gateway mode) bridging vehicle-to-infrastructure coverage on large cargo or maintenance aprons
  • Paired fleet deployments alongside PT580H Plus handhelds on a common TETRA trunked network
