The IWT.570.CCR is inewatt's SCR (thyristor)-based constant current regulator, the established workhorse technology for airfield ground lighting power supply. CCRs are the fundamental power source for series-wired AGL circuits: because all fixtures on a runway or taxiway circuit are connected in series rather than in parallel, the CCR must maintain a constant output current — typically 6.6 A — regardless of how many lamps are burning, switching on or off, or presenting varying impedance. The IWT.570.CCR is specifically designed to handle the non-linear load characteristics introduced by LED driver electronics, which present a different impedance profile to the CCR output than a resistive halogen load does. Two model configurations address the full range of airfield circuit sizes. The IWT.570.CCR.01 operates at 1, 2.5, 4, and 5 kVA, appropriate for taxiway edge circuits, apron guidance, or medium-length runway centreline feeds. The IWT.570.CCR.02 extends output up to 25 kVA across seven discrete power steps to drive long runway series circuits at major airports. Both accept either single-phase (220–240 V) or three-phase (380–415 V) supply, and operate with efficiency exceeding 90% at rated output. The front-panel rotary selector offers Remote/Standby/Local modes — a practical requirement for safe maintenance operations where the vault technician needs to take the CCR out of remote control without losing tower situational awareness. Physical form factor matches the IWT.620.CCR IGBT unit, so both types can be racked together in a standardised CCR vault layout, simplifying spares holding. Overcurrent protection prevents circuit damage during cable or fixture faults.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Primary power supply for 6.6 A series-wired runway, taxiway, and approach lighting circuits
  • Powering LED-converted airfield circuits requiring a CCR tolerant of non-linear lamp loads
  • CCR room fit-out for new airfield construction projects
  • Replacement CCRs in legacy installations standardised on the 6.6 A series circuit
  • Vault layouts where a common physical envelope with the IGBT variant simplifies racking
