The IWT.620.CCR is inewatt's IGBT-based constant current regulator series for airfield ground lighting power supply. Where earlier thyristor (SCR) regulators were designed around resistive or halogen lamp loads, an IGBT H-bridge architecture uses pulse-width modulation to synthesise the output waveform thousands of times per second, yielding clean, low-distortion current that protects the power-conversion electronics inside LED lamp assemblies. This distinction becomes operationally significant when airports run mixed series circuits — where some sockets still carry halogen or incandescent fixtures alongside LED upgrades — because the IGBT unit maintains stable regulated current across the non-linear, variable-impedance load profile that such a circuit presents. Two models scale the power range: the IWT.620.CCR.01 covers 1, 2.5, 4, and 5 kVA steps for shorter or lighter-loaded circuits (taxiway edges, apron guidance, or shorter runway centreline runs), while the IWT.620.CCR.02 extends to 7.5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 kVA to power longer series circuits at major runway installations. Both variants accept either 220–240 V or 380–415 V input, accommodating the range of site supply voltages found across GCC and MENA airport electrical infrastructure. Efficiency exceeds 90% at rated load, directly reducing the heat load and operational cost in CCR vault rooms — relevant in the GCC where cooling the electrical plant is itself an energy cost. The front-panel rotary switch provides three operating modes — Remote (ALCMS-driven), Standby, and Local — allowing maintenance work without disrupting tower control.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Powering LED series circuits during progressive halogen-to-LED runway and taxiway retrofit
  • Mixed LED/halogen circuits where non-linear load management is required
  • New-build airfield electrical installations specifying IGBT CCRs from the outset
  • CCR vault upgrades where stackable form factor minimises footprint
  • Remote ALCMS-integrated step-switching from the ATC tower
