The IWT.862.RWY is an elevated, bidirectional runway edge light series from inewatt, designed to delineate the usable width of the runway for pilots during approach, landing, and take-off in all visibility conditions. The unit stands 320 mm tall with a 165 mm footprint and connects directly to the standard 6.6 A series circuit used in virtually all certified airfield lighting installations, drawing 32–42 VA depending on the colour variant — well within the current budget of a loaded CCR circuit. Four colour-distribution variants cover the full perimeter of a runway layout: yellow/white for the main runway interior, white/white for open stretches, white/red for the last 600 m threshold-to-end zone, and red/yellow for displaced threshold areas. Each variant delivers photometric output compliant with ICAO Annex 14 Volume I, with white beams at 10,000 cd and red at 1,500 cd — meeting the intensity demands of low-visibility Category III operations. LED light sources carry a rated life exceeding 60,000 hours, which at a typical 12-hour daily burn equates to roughly 13 years of service before lamp replacement is required. This materially reduces maintenance-access events on active runways — a safety and cost consideration for high-throughput hubs.
