The BV 6045 is a single-view high-resolution X-ray baggage and parcel inspection system with a 610 mm wide by 450 mm high tunnel — the standard aperture for screening carry-on baggage, cabin bags, and small checked items at airport security checkpoints. The 160 kV diagonally upward X-ray beam achieves 36 mm guaranteed steel penetration and 0.08 mm wire resolution, matching the detection-floor of larger checkpoint systems while fitting within compact lane geometries.

The system's material-discrimination capability uses effective atomic number (Zeff) analysis and optical-density differentiation to automatically classify suspect areas as organic, inorganic, or metallic — generating colour-coded alerts for explosives, drugs, and impenetrable items without requiring the operator to manually apply image enhancement tools. Three selectable colour palettes (3-colour, 7-colour, and infinite-colour mode) cater to different operator-training standards and local regulatory preference. Bi-directional conveyor operation allows the operator to reverse items for re-examination without physical repositioning.

Additional operational features include automatic system diagnostics on start-up, a baggage counter, integrated image archive, and support for TIP (Threat Image Projection) training software — all relevant to airport regulatory compliance programmes. Maximum belt load of 180 kg accommodates fully packed passenger bags, and the 845 × 1,325 × 2,140 mm footprint fits standard airport lane infrastructure.

For GCC airport operators procuring to ECAC or national civil aviation authority standards, the BV 6045 is positioned as a lane-level carry-on screening unit; the matching BV 6045DV dual-view variant is available where regulations mandate dual-projection imaging for primary screening.
