Schmidt SK 600 truck-mounted sweeper for airport surfaces (distributed by Manmachine Works)
High-capacity truck-mounted suction sweeper configurable for continuous apron and perimeter road cleaning on 15–18 tonne chassis.
The Schmidt SK 600 is a truck-mounted mechanical-suction sweeper with a 6.0 m³ hopper, designed to mount on standard truck chassis in the 15–18 tonne gross weight class. For airports, it addresses the sustained debris, dust, and grit load on apron pavements, taxiway shoulders, service roads, and landside perimeter routes where a purpose-built airside vehicle would be over-specified. The SK 600 sweeps mechanically across a 2,300 mm working width, with a suction fan drawing cleared material into the large hopper; the 1,800-litre glass-fibre-reinforced water tank feeds a 40 l/min fresh-water system that keeps dust suppressed throughout the pass. Operating speeds of up to 20 km/h are achievable, and the drive system — available in diesel auxiliary-engine, PTO, or hydrostatic variants — gives operators flexibility to match the towing or carrier vehicle already in the fleet. A noise-suppression package qualifies the SK 600 for operations during restricted hours (10 pm–6 am), relevant for airports that schedule maintenance sweeping in low-traffic night windows. An optional front brush extends the effective cleaning width to include kerbing and drainage channels. PM10 certification confirms that airborne dust emissions are controlled to European standards. The SK 600 suits regional airports and secondary terminals needing a capable but general-purpose sweeper that also covers landside roads between airside cleaning cycles.
