LERE LED Elevated Runway Edge and Threshold/End Light
A high-reliability elevated LED runway edge and threshold/end light cleared for ICAO CAT I/II/III, FAA, NATO, and EASA operations worldwide.
The LERE (LED Elevated Runway Edge and Threshold/End Light) is Multi Electric's high-intensity elevated fixture for precision and non-precision runway lighting across the full spectrum of international certification standards: ICAO Annex 14 (CAT I, II, and III), FAA L-862-E(L) AC150/5345-46, IEC TS 61827, NATO STANAG 3316, CAA CAP 168, TCCA TP312, EASA CS-ADR-DSN, and CASA MOS Part 139. This breadth of compliance makes it a single-part-number solution for operators whose fleets span FAA-regulated US airports through ICAO-compliant Gulf and European aerodromes.
The fixture produces colour directly via LEDs — no coloured filters — which eliminates filter-induced energy losses and ensures photometric colour coordinates remain stable throughout the lamp's service life. A bidirectional runway edge configuration incorporates 360-degree circular guidance, giving ground crews and pilots continuous omnidirectional cues during low-visibility operations. Like all Multi Electric elevated fixtures, the LERE is designed around a modular assembly: lens arrays and LED modules can be replaced without optical re-alignment, the aluminium die-cast body resists jet blast through a compact 320 mm ICAO profile, and the powder-coat finish handles the corrosion environment of coastal and desert ramps.
Power enters via series circuit at 2.8–6.6 A with automatic 50/60 Hz adaptation, fully compatible with both legacy and modern CCR installations. The fixture carries IP67 protection and a -55 °C to +55 °C operating range. With a field-observed LED life exceeding 100,000 hours under normal operating conditions, lifecycle maintenance intervals are substantially longer than the halogen fittings the LERE replaces — a key consideration for procurement engineers at busy international hubs where runway lighting downtime has direct operational cost.
