LIRC LED Inset Runway Centreline / RETIL Light
8-inch inset LED fixture covering runway centreline, RETIL, and FAA RWSL/THL/RIL functions in a single certified platform.
The LIRC is an 8-inch inset LED light that serves two distinct safety-critical roles: primary runway centreline lighting for precision-approach operations, and Rapid Exit Taxiway Indicator Light (RETIL) guidance that signals pilots approaching high-speed turn-off points. The same housing also qualifies for FAA Runway Status Light (RWSL), Takeoff Hold Light (THL), and Runway Intersection Light (RIL) applications — a level of function consolidation that simplifies the procurement specification for complex runway environments with multiple surface-movement safety systems.
The 8-inch diameter is the standard centreline footprint under ICAO Annex 14 and FAA AC 150/5345-46, and the 6.35 mm pavement protrusion minimises the vibrational load on passing aircraft tyres — a factor that directly affects fixture longevity at high-traffic international runways.
Bidirectional and unidirectional optical variants allow the same fixture type to be used for both approach-direction centreline (alternating red/white in the final 900 m per ICAO standards) and unidirectional touchdown-zone adjacency. Power draw is 16 VA unidirectional and 29–32 VA bidirectional, well within the capacity of standard 6.6A CCR circuits. The broad certification envelope — ICAO, FAA, EASA, IEC, NATO, CAA, TCCA, CASA, ENAC — makes the LIRC directly usable across GCC, European, Australasian, and North American regulated airports without variant re-specification.
Optional Arctic Kit heating and remote monitoring are available for CAT II/III environments requiring fault transparency.
