The SCL3 is Sepura's flagship next-generation hand-portable, designed for organisations navigating the transition from dedicated TETRA networks toward Mission Critical Services (MCX) over 4G and 5G. It runs Android 14 (non-GMS) on a 5-inch, 1280 × 720 touchscreen and accepts a nano-SIM plus eSIM for cellular connectivity, while an optional TETRA module adds narrowband voice and data on 380–473 MHz — allowing the device to operate as TETRA-only, LTE-only, or a simultaneous hybrid as the network infrastructure evolves.

Physically the SCL3 is engineered to the same rugged standard as traditional TETRA portables: IP65–IP68 environmental sealing, −20 °C to +60 °C operational range, and physical push-to-talk buttons, rotary knobs, and programmable keys that mirror the tactile controls of the SC20/SC21 — critical for users who need to operate by feel in gloves or low-light conditions. Bluetooth 5.2 LE supports audio accessories and data peripherals.

For aviation and airport operators the SCL3 represents a future-proofed investment: teams running video surveillance feeds, electronic ground-handling documentation, or real-time situational-awareness applications need the bandwidth of 4G/5G that a TETRA-only device cannot deliver. Yet those same teams cannot lose narrowband resilience during a network outage. The hybrid architecture resolves this directly. With over 16,500 units deployed through the UK's Ambulance Radio Programme, the SCL3 has proven large-scale production deployment readiness in safety-critical environments — a reference that GCC airport operators evaluating MCX migration pathways will find directly relevant.
