VISTA-series elevated LED threshold and wing-bar lights for non-precision runway ends, with three-step dimming and salt-mist-tested IP67 enclosures across a −55 °C to +55 °C range.
The elevated threshold and threshold wing-bar lights are part of Signalight's VISTA system, which received the Inter Airport Europe Innovation Award in 2021. Threshold lights mark the beginning of the usable landing surface and present green facing the approach — this is the primary decision cue pilots use to confirm runway alignment and the beginning of the touchdown zone. Wing-bar lights flank the threshold line to widen the visual width signal in low-visibility or crosswind approaches. Together they are mandatory elements of ICAO Annex 14-compliant runway lighting at non-precision approach airports. Signalight offers the VISTA threshold/wing-bar in two intensity tiers: a low/medium intensity version for VFR and simple aerodrome use, and a high-intensity version for aerodromes operating in marginal conditions or with longer approach paths. The low/medium variants draw 6.3 W (threshold) and 6.3 W (wing-bar) at full output from a 90–230 V AC supply. The high-intensity versions draw 12.5 W (both types) from a 1.4 A DC constant-current circuit with 30 and 10% dimming steps. All VISTA units share the same construction: powder-coated aluminium housing (RAL 1004), glass disperser, nickel-plated cable gland, stainless steel fasteners, and an anti-condensation valve. Operating range is −55 °C to +55 °C with IP67 protection and a salt-mist qualification. Mounting is on a frangible coupling and 160 mm or 260 mm base plate; FAA L-823 connectors are pre-fitted for compatibility with North American series-circuit infrastructure. The VISTA system is independently photometric-tested to ICAO Annex 14 and IEC TS 61827.
