The IONSCAN 600 is Smiths Detection's current portable explosives and narcotics trace detector — successor to the long-serving Itemiser product line. Non-radioactive Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) eliminates the radiation licensing burden that constrains where the unit can travel. Lithium-ion hot-swap batteries allow continuous field operation without mains power. Detects military, commercial and home-made explosives (EGDN, HMTD, HMX, NG, PETN, RDX, TATP, Tetryl, TNT) and a comprehensive narcotic library including fentanyl, carfentanyl, W-18 and Spice/K2 — meeting the only ETD technology certified to the TSA ACSTL latest requirements. Sub-11 kg portable form factor with single-use proprietary swabs.
