RSM-970S Mode-S Secondary Surveillance Radar
Mode-S Elementary and Enhanced surveillance radar — 256 NM range, monopulse antenna, ICAO Annex 10 compliant.
The Thales RSM-970S is a monopulse Mode-S secondary surveillance radar designed for terminal and en-route ATC surveillance. It supports both Mode-S Elementary Surveillance (ELS) and Enhanced Surveillance (EHS) data downlinks, providing controllers with selected altitude, heading, airspeed and other Aircraft Derived Data (ADD) on top of squawk and altitude. The radar's monopulse direction-finding gives one-pulse azimuth resolution (no antenna scan required), and the wideband digital receiver supports multilateration co-location. Co-mounts with primary surveillance radar antennas for combined PSR/SSR sites and is the SSR backbone of multiple Gulf area control centres.
