POWER-409
Zero-emission battery-powered 400 Hz GPU with modular LiFePO4 packs for remote stands and hangars.
The POWER-409 is TLD's fully electric 400 Hz ground power unit, built around the company's iBS Lithium Iron Phosphate battery platform. It delivers stable 400 Hz / 115 V AC power to parked aircraft entirely from stored energy, with no generator exhaust, no engine noise, and no dependency on fixed pit infrastructure — making it the natural choice for remote apron positions, satellite stands, and hangar maintenance bays where a cable pit is absent or impractical.
The unit is configured in multiples of TLD's modular 22 kWh iBS packs, giving operators a choice of total battery capacity (110 kWh, 132 kWh, 154 kWh, or 176 kWh across five to eight packs) to match their specific turn cycle and autonomy requirements. A 90 kW on-board charger accepts virtually any three-phase 50/60 Hz supply and is designed to charge concurrently while the unit is powering an aircraft — eliminating the dead-time between turns. Inverter-and-charger efficiency is rated at 95 %, and output performance is stated to exceed ISO 6858. The 28 V DC output option (600 A continuous, 2,400 A peak) supports aircraft with dual-bus or DC-only requirements.
The iBS chemistry is cobalt-free LiFePO4, chosen for thermal stability in high-ambient-temperature ramp environments. Spent packs enter a TLD second-life programme, being redistributed to lighter-duty GSE, which materially improves the whole-life cost argument. For GCC operators managing ICAO Carbon Offsetting targets and local zero-emission apron mandates, the POWER-409 converts one of the highest-utilisation pieces of ramp kit into a genuinely emission-free asset without sacrificing capability.

Use cases.
- ›Remote and satellite apron positions without fixed 400 Hz pit infrastructure
- ›Hangar maintenance bays where engine-on ground power is prohibited
- ›Zero-emission ramp programmes and ICAO carbon-compliance initiatives
- ›High-ambient-temperature environments (GCC, Middle East, tropical hubs) where thermal-stable LiFePO4 chemistry is preferred
- ›Concurrent aircraft powering and battery recharging during short turn cycles
- ›Multi-GSE iBS battery sharing to reduce total-fleet battery inventory costs
