TLE22 LED Elevated High-Intensity Runway Edge Light
LED elevated high-intensity bidirectional runway edge light rated for CAT I–III operations with 110,000-hour life and glass primary optics.
The TLE22 is Transcon's LED answer to the most demanding elevated runway-edge position: high-intensity bidirectional edge light on precision approach and instrument runways certified to Category I, II, and III minima. Operating at 6.6 A series circuit current (with a 2.2 A secondary option), the fixture draws 18–30 VA depending on optical configuration — a fraction of the 200 W halogen equivalent — while meeting the ICAO Annex 14 and EASA CS ADR-DSN photometric requirements that define high-intensity edge light performance.
The housing measures 250 × 154 × 154 mm and weighs 4.1 kg, sized to mount on a standard frangible coupling with the adjustable height clearances required at paved runway shoulders. Primary optics are borosilicate glass rather than plastic, preserving photometric accuracy across the operational life and resisting discolouration from UV exposure, fuel vapour, and cleaning agents — a notable long-term maintenance advantage over polycarbonate optic alternatives. The LED assembly is specified for 110,000 hours at 100% intensity, and an integrated monitoring module allows individual fixture health to be reported back to an AMS system, enabling predictive maintenance rather than reactive walk-down inspections.
IP56 splash-proof rating is appropriate for an elevated above-pavement fixture not subject to direct submersion but exposed to high-pressure runway cleaning equipment and wind-driven rain. Wind resistance tested to 540 km/h gives a substantial safety margin above international design wind loads. The dual current-rating option (6.6 A / 2.2 A) allows the TLE22 to be deployed in the growing number of airports adopting 2.2 A secondary series circuits for energy efficiency without circuit reconfiguration.
