The TLI50 is an 8-inch (203 mm) diameter LED inset runway light with a 6.35 mm low-protrusion profile, designed for installation in the highest-stress positions of a runway lighting system: centreline (RCL), touchdown zone (TDZ), stop bar (SBLS/SBLC), and runway end threshold lighting. The 8-inch form factor drops into existing 8-inch shallow base cans — a common legacy standard — at 67 mm depth, minimising pavement disruption during retrofit. The fixture weighs approximately 3.2 kg packaged and is served by a 6.6 A or 2.2 A isolating transformer circuit via FAA L-823 Type II Class A Style 6 cable connectors, preserving compatibility with existing series-circuit infrastructure.

At the heart of the TLI50 is a high-efficiency LED assembly delivering the variable-intensity output required at RCL and TDZ positions, which must step from low-intensity night mode down to minimum intensity in instrument conditions. The fixture is rated to IEC TS 61827 Style 3 Size 3 and FAA AC 150/5345-46 Class 2 Mode 1 — the same structural robustness classification as 12-inch insets — meaning it tolerates code-E aircraft main gear loads, hydraulic impact from water ingress events, and recurring shear loads from high-speed rejected take-offs. IP68 watertight sealing ensures no ingestion of standing water, de-icing chemical, or desert sand under pressure.

An optional ARC arctic heating kit is available to prevent ice-lens formation over the optic face in sub-zero climates. The 110,000-hour LED lifetime translates, at a typical 4,000 annual operating hours, to a 27-year lamp interval — effectively eliminating in-pavement lamp access as a routine maintenance event and the associated FOD risk on busy international runways.
