The TLI80 and TLI81 are 12-inch (304 mm) diameter LED inset lights sharing the same housing, environmental ratings, and low-protrusion profile but differentiated by their approved photometric applications. The TLI80 covers approach and threshold-zone positions — approach centreline (APP), approach side row (ASR), runway end (END), threshold (THR), threshold/end combination (THREND), and threshold wing bar (THRWB). The TLI81 is certified for runway guard lights in configuration B (RGL) and runway edge inset positions including stopway.

Both units protrude just 6.35 mm above the pavement surface, compliant with the low-protrusion requirements of IEC TS 61827 Style 3 and FAA AC 150/5345-46 Class 2 Mode 1 Style 3, which allow installation on runways carrying wide-body traffic including code E and F aircraft. At approximately 7.4 kg packaged (68 mm deep in a shallow base can), they are designed for retrofit into existing 12-inch can installations without repaving. Borosilicate glass optics resist impact and chemical contamination from de-icing fluid, fuel spillage, and hydraulic fluid — conditions routinely encountered on high-cycle international runways.

The IP68 watertight rating combined with −55 to +55 °C operating range and 15G vibration resistance gives both fixtures credibility on runways in both extreme northern climates and the high-summer pavement temperatures of Gulf-region airports where in-pavement temperatures can routinely exceed ambient air temperature by 20–30 °C. An optional ARC arctic heating kit is available for the TLI80 platform, confirming the fixture's design range. Rated service life of 110,000 hours reduces lamp-change intervention cycles significantly versus halogen equivalents, a material benefit on busy runways where FOD risk from maintenance access is operationally undesirable.
