ADAPTO BAGSTORE
Shuttle-based automated early bag store combining high-density racking with multidirectional shuttles for scalable, high-redundancy baggage storage and batch build.
ADAPTO BAGSTORE is Vanderlande's shuttle-based Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) adapted for airport early-bag storage. It integrates a high-bay racking structure with an embedded multidirectional track on which Microshuttle carriers make independent movements — storing bags individually and retrieving them on demand to feed flight-build cells in the correct batching sequence.
The system is native to the TUBTRAX ICS ecosystem: bags remain in their RFID-tracked TUBTRAX carriers inside the ADAPTO racking, meaning the system always knows the precise location of every bag without manual scanning events. When the VIBES BHS control software schedules a flight build, ADAPTO pulls the relevant bags in the planned sequence and feeds them to the make-up position — compressing the elapsed time between early bag induction and aircraft loading.
High redundancy is an explicit design parameter: multiple Microshuttles operate independently in the same racking grid, so a single shuttle failure does not halt the storage system. Throughput can be increased by adding shuttles and lifts to an existing installation without structural modification — the modular racking accepts new capacity increments as traffic grows.
Intelligent power management and low moving mass (shuttles carry only the tub, not the bag plus carrier) reduce energy consumption relative to conveyor-intensive pre-sort buffer systems. Oslo Gardermoen Airport runs ADAPTO BAGSTORE alongside HELIXORTER and TUBTRAX as part of a fully automated baggage hall — 1,500 storage locations confirmed.
For GCC airports facing peak-hour early-bag volumes driven by long-haul flights checking in three-to-four hours ahead, ADAPTO BAGSTORE is the enabling infrastructure for a fully timed, automated flight-build workflow.
