VarioBelt High Speed Diverter
Industry-standard high-speed belt diverter delivering positive, low-force baggage diversion for in-line sortation at speed.
The VarioBelt High Speed Diverter 3.0 is Vanderlande's established diverter unit for in-line baggage sortation — the component responsible for physically deflecting individual bags off a main conveyor line and onto the correct chute or destination belt. It is positioned as a proven industry standard: the 3.0 designation indicates an evolved platform with a track record across multiple generations of airport BHS installations.
The defining performance characteristic is the combination of high divert speed and minimal force applied to the bag during the divert event. Conventional diverters that push bags laterally at high belt speeds can cause bag rotation, orientation loss, and — in worst cases — damage to soft-sided luggage or separation of bag tags. The VarioBelt HSD's design geometry minimises the lateral impulse applied to the bag, reducing these failure modes while maintaining the throughput rates needed in high-speed sortation loops.
Configuration options span output angles of 0°, 45°, and 90°, allowing integration into a wide range of loop geometries without requiring additional curve conveyor sections between the diverter and the destination chute. The system works in concert with Vanderlande's VIBES destination-control software, which governs the timing of each divert actuation based on bag tracking data — ensuring each divert fires at the correct bag regardless of conveyor load variations.
For procurement engineers specifying BHS sortation components, the HSD 3.0 is the reference product within Vanderlande's own ecosystem and is the expected diverter specification when integrating BAXORTER or HELIXORTER sortation loops with downstream make-up belts.
