LED Airfield Ground Lighting — Runway, Taxiway & Approach (ATG Airports, distributed by Vardhman Airport Solutions)
A comprehensive range of LED airfield ground lighting covering elevated and inset runway edge, centreline, TDZ, approach, threshold, and taxiway fixtures — manufactured by ATG Airports to FAA and ICAO CAT I/II/III standards, supplied and integrated across Indian and regional airports by Vardhman Airport Solutions.
Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) is the collective term for all the lamp-based guidance surfaces that allow pilots to navigate safely from final approach through touchdown, rollout, and taxi to stand. The ATG Airports LED range distributed by Vardhman covers every mandatory and supplementary circuit: elevated runway edge lights (bi-directional, high-intensity, white/yellow/red according to circuit position); inset runway centreline, TDZ, and threshold fittings (uni- or bi-directional, flush-mounted for debris-free operation on active runways); elevated and inset approach and siderow barrette lights for SALS, MALS, SSALR, and ICAO HIALS systems; taxiway centreline (green inset) and edge (blue elevated) fixtures; stopbars and intermediate holding position lights; and runway guard lights. All LED variants carry current FAA L-861 or L-862 classification as applicable and are designed for CAT I, II, and III all-weather operations. The shift from halogen to LED in AGL delivers measurable operational advantages: lamp life typically exceeds 60,000 hours versus 500–1,000 hours for halogen, reducing the frequency of runway closures for relamping. Power draw falls significantly — LED runway edge lights operate in the 2.8–6.6 A series circuit range at substantially lower wattage than halogen equivalents — and the elimination of warm-up delay means intensity is available instantly on step change. ATG fixtures are rated IP67 and qualified for operating temperatures from −55 °C to +55 °C, covering the full environmental envelope including Gulf summer ramp conditions. Vardhman has deployed LED taxiway and elevated runway edge lighting across multiple Airports Authority of India (AAI) aerodromes as part of nationally funded modernisation programmes, with the same product range applicable to the GCC and wider Middle East where LED AGL adoption is now mandated across most national airport authorities.
