“US company developing Overture, a supersonic commercial airliner, and its Symphony engine.”
Company brief
Boom Supersonic is a Colorado-headquartered aerospace technology company developing supersonic commercial aviation and advanced power generation systems. Its flagship product, Overture, is a 60-80 passenger supersonic airliner designed to cruise at Mach 1.7 at 60,000 ft with a range of 4,250 nautical miles, operating on 100% sustainable aviation fuel. Overture is powered by the Symphony turbofan engine developed in-house. The XB-1 supersonic demonstrator served as the technology validation platform. Boom has secured 130 total orders and pre-orders from three airlines: United Airlines, American Airlines, and Japan Airlines. The company's Superfactory manufacturing facility is located in Greensboro, North Carolina. A separate division, Superpower, produces 42-megawatt natural gas turbine systems for AI data centre infrastructure, with Baker Hughes as an infrastructure partner.
