Company brief
Dabico FMT, the airport business unit of FMT Sweden AB, is a Trelleborg-based manufacturer of passenger boarding bridges (PBBs) and ground-stand support systems with more than 50 years of experience designing and delivering passenger-handling and operational-support systems for airports and seaports worldwide. The company was founded in 1963 in Lund, Sweden, and relocated to Trelleborg in 1974. FMT installed its first passenger boarding bridge at Malmo Sturup Airport in 1972, invented the first Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) in 1975, pioneered automatic and semi-automatic PBB docking in 1983, opened the world's first Vehicle-Free Ramp System and Over-the-Wing PBB at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport in 1990, introduced the world's first glass-walled boarding bridges in 1991 and developed the first laser-based VDGS in 1992. FMT later introduced the FMT Apron Management System (1994) and Stand Management System Atlantis (1996), and is now part of the broader Dabico aviation group, which extends the offering across airport monitoring, fuelling, 400 Hz / GPU retrofit, eGPU, pre-conditioned air, aero and seaport bridges, aircraft ground connection, wet/utility services, pantographs, caddles, towbars and accessories. R&D, manufacturing and sales direction remain at Trelleborg, with sales offices in Europe, North America and the Middle East and a global agent network. Dabico FMT is certified to ISO 9001:2015 (quality) and ISO 14001:2015 (environment). The PBB family covers Mobile Telescopic Bridges (MTB, including A380 Upper Deck variants and Dual Boarding Bridge configurations), Nose-Loader Bridges, T-Bridges, Over-the-Wing Bridges and Commuter Bridges. Distinct strengths include a long pedigree of PBB innovation, a Swedish design and manufacturing base optimised for extreme climates, and the integration with Dabico's wider apron and ground-systems portfolio.
