Firstmark Aerospace
“US manufacturer and FAA-certified repairer of flight-control, fuel-measurement and flight-guidance components for commercial and military aircraft.”
Company brief
Firstmark Aerospace Corporation is a North Carolina–based designer, manufacturer and repair house for precision electronic, electromagnetic and mechanical components and systems used by the aerospace and defence industry, operating today as an Ontic company within BBA Aviation's wider Ontic group. Founded in 1893 as Wright Machinery Company, the business produced gunfire control systems for Sperry and Ford during World War II, was acquired by Sperry in the post-war period and then by Honeywell when Sperry was absorbed in 1986, was sold to Tecstar in 1996, taken over by Firstmark in 2002, and finally acquired by Ontic in 2018. The company operates from a 95,000+ sq. ft. facility in Creedmoor, North Carolina (1176 Telecom Drive) — a site occupied since 2006 — and runs an FAA Certified Repair Station, E9HR396N, which is also EASA-certified and supports fuel measurement, flight control and flight guidance components on commercial and military aircraft. Firstmark's product portfolio centres on flux valves (used in aircraft compass systems on platforms including the Embraer 135/145 and Boeing F/A-18E/F, with a recent TSO-certified redesign), Standby Compass Calibrators (listed on Boeing and Airbus recommended equipment lists, eliminating physical compass swinging), legacy MK-3/MC-2000 Master Compass Calibration Set support, fiberglass and formed-nickel inner fuel probes (in service on the Boeing 707, 727, 747, KC-135 and Lockheed C-130), and custom-designed servos for OEM and aftermarket aerospace customers. Firstmark serves military, commercial and commuter aerospace customers and offers contract manufacturing capacity for electronic, electro-mechanical, and electromagnetic devices.
Indexed product lines
Magnetic sensory device that electrically transmits aircraft heading information to the compass system. Used on Embraer 135/145 and Boeing F/A-18E/F; recent redesign uses smaller gimbal mounting pins for less resistance and faster response.
System that calibrates the aircraft standby compass without requiring physical rotation of the aircraft on a compass rose; cancels local Earth's magnetic field and adds a rotatable standard field to identify compass error.
Discontinued ground support equipment for calibration of aircraft navigational components. Aftermarket repair and calibration services still offered.
Fiberglass and formed-nickel inner fuel probes manufactured and repaired by Firstmark, in service on multiple commercial and military aircraft.
Custom-designed electromechanical servos engineered to specific customer performance, reliability, quality, weight, size and environmental qualification requirements.
Contract manufacturing of electronic, electro-mechanical and electromagnetic devices in 95,000+ sq. ft. of capacity at Creedmoor, NC.
Firstmark offers repair support and calibration services for the MK-3/MC-2000 Master Compass Calibration Set, as well as the Standby Compass Calibrator (SCC) system.
Custom devices designed to meet customers’ requirements for performance, reliability, quality, weight, size, and environmental qualification.
