Megadoor
“Megadoor, part of ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, provides entrance products, solutions and knowledge for aviation.”
Company brief
Megadoor is the aircraft hangar door brand of ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, the manufacturer that installed the world's first vertical-lifting fabric hangar door in 1977 (for the Swedish FAA in Kiruna). The company designs and builds large-span vertical-lift fabric door systems — PVC-coated polyester leaves running in extruded-aluminium guide rails with no springs or counterweights — for aircraft hangars, MRO facilities, shipyards, mining and heavy industry. Megadoor specialises in extremely large openings (up to roughly 19 x 20 m per single door, and virtually unlimited width using multiple sections with swing-up mullions), with hurricane-rated wind resistance and very low air infiltration. Over 100 doors are installed above the Arctic Circle and over 100 in Middle East deserts, with references including a 420 ft x 68 ft door system for Stratolaunch in Mojave.
