Company brief

The Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) is a training organization within the United States Department of Transportation, headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the FAA Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center. Established in 1971, TSI has provided safety, security and environmental training to federal, state and local government, private sector and foreign transportation professionals across the disciplines of aviation, highway traffic, transit, motor carriers and hazardous materials. The institute reports having trained over 850,000 transportation professionals across its history and currently trains more than 30,000 people each year. TSI's Aviation Safety Division is the focus most relevant to aviation procurement and operations. The division is home to the National Aircraft Accident Investigation School, which originated to train Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) accident investigators and FAA aviation safety inspectors. Aviation training is organized around two specialties: Aircraft Accident Investigation and Aircraft Accident Prevention. Instruction is delivered by aviation industry subject-matter experts using FAA-approved textbooks. TSI also operates a professional certificate framework with four designations: Air Safety Investigator, Senior Air Safety Investigator, Aviation Safety Professional, and Senior Aviation Safety Professional. According to TSI, its aviation alumni have participated in more than 124,000 aircraft accident and incident investigations since 1971. TSI also offers custom training programs that can be tailored for civil aviation authorities, airlines, MROs, airport operators and government agencies.
