JetFoam 3% (ICAO-B)
A 3% fluorine-free film-forming foam concentrate that meets ICAO Level B at low viscosity, enabling direct drop-in compatibility with existing ARFF proportioning systems.
JetFoam 3% (ICAO-B) is a synthetic F3 foam concentrate designed for extinguishing and securing Jet-A and Jet-A1 aviation fuel fires. It was the first fluorine-free foam to achieve film formation on aviation kerosene at 3% concentration — a film-forming capability that creates an aqueous vapour barrier across the burning fuel surface, suppressing re-ignition and enabling fast knockdown even under forceful nozzle application.
The product's Newtonian rheology — a viscosity of approximately 2 cP at 20 °C, comparable to water — is a load-bearing characteristic for ARFF operations. Conventional foam proportioning systems, including the in-line inductors fitted to most airport crash vehicles worldwide, are calibrated for Newtonian fluids. Non-Newtonian or high-viscosity F3 foams can under-induct at the set ratio, degrading actual foam solution quality. JetFoam 3% (ICAO-B) eliminates this risk and avoids the costly equipment modifications that some alternative F3 products require.
Certified to EN1568:2018 Part 3 and exceeding ICAO 2013 Level B fire performance, with a minimum 10-year shelf life under correct storage conditions (continuous storage up to 50 °C, intermittent up to 60 °C). Expansion ratio exceeds 7:1 with a 25% drainage time of at least 3 minutes, producing a coherent foam blanket resistant to wind disturbance and fuel pick-up. Compatible with potable and fresh water; integrates into twin-agent configurations with dry powder. Fully biodegradable, free of fluorosurfactants, organohalogens, PFOA, and PFOS.
