CrisBag Independent Carrier System

The CrisBag Independent Carrier System (ICS) is BEUMER Group's premium tote-based baggage handling platform. Each item of checked baggage is placed into an individual rigid tote at check-in induction and remains in that tote continuously through the entire process — HBS screening, transport, storage, batch building, and make-up — until the tote is tipped to discharge the bag onto the make-up conveyor or ULD loader. The tote carries a unique identifier that the BHS control system tracks in real time, providing 100% bag traceability at every point in the process and full IATA Resolution 753 compliance.

The performance envelope is designed for large and complex airports. Transport speed reaches up to 10 m/sec, enabling inter-terminal connections and long-distance baggage highways to be served without the conveyors becoming a turn-time bottleneck. The system accommodates bags from very small items (150 mm minimum length) to oversized baggage up to 2,100 mm long and 75 kg, using standard, large, and oversized tote variants — all running on the same track, which avoids the need for separate dedicated oversized-bag lines.

In-tote screening, where the HBS machine inspects the bag without removing it from the tote, is a key operational advantage: it eliminates the bag-jam risks that occur when loose bags are transferred onto screening conveyor platforms, and it preserves the bag-to-tote custody record through the security checkpoint. The compact, modular construction minimises footprints in constrained terminals and reduces installation time because sections arrive factory-tested. CrisBag is positioned for airports handling significant volumes of transit and connecting passengers — in GCC hub operations, where connection times are short and mishandled bags carry high commercial cost, the system's zero-miss-sort design and high-speed transport directly address the core operational risk.
